He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert "Bobby" Eugene Carter and Lillian Bowles Carter; and his brother Donald "Donnie" Ray Carter. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Spradlin Carter of Bedford; his children, Gregory Scott Carter, Joshua James Carter (Tammy) and Tonya Carter Stoneberger of Bedford; his brother Ronald "Ronnie" Carter (Karen); and his grandchildren, Tyler Stoneberger, Matthew Carter and Alyssa Carter.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Burch-Messier Funeral Home (317 W Main St, Bedford, VA 24523). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Walnut Street Chapel (1235 Walnut St, Bedford, VA 24523).
