She was predeceased by: her parents, Emerson Monroe Waller and Lucy Jones Waller; and her husband Emmette Alfred Howell. She is survived by: her children, Rick Howell of Roanoke and Regina Gail Oliver (Jon) of Forest; her grandchildren, Ryan Howell (Lesa) of Roanoke and Nikolas Oliver (Katy) of Lynchburg; her brother Bailey; her sisters-in-law, Phyllis Waller of Lynchburg, Susie Waller of Bedford and Tiny Waller of Lynchburg; and her friends, Glenn, Doug, Chance, Kim, Warren and Teresa. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

During Emmette's long battle with Parkinson's Disease, Polly was a fixture at his bedside in the nursing home where he spent 14 years.
