He is survived by: his children, James Gilbert (Maggie) of Castlewood, Tammy Helton (Harvey) of Vansant and Angela Helton (Jeff) of Bee, Virginia; his grandchildren, Aaron Gilbert (Ashley), Jamie Gilbert, Dustin Helton (Savannah), Shane Gilbert (Brittany), Samantha Ball (William), Kayla Gilbert (Matthew) and Allison Christian; his great grandchildren, Samuel Helton, Kimber Helton, Aiden Gilbert, Kameron Gilbert, Kayde Gilbert, Trinity White, Cassidy Gilbert, Calliope Gilbert, Emma Gilbert, Kinsley Gilbert, Lucas Gilbert and Alyssa Beth Ratliff; and his siblings, Dorothy Stevens (Garnett) and Garnell Gilbert. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Honaker Funeral Home (4686 Redbud Hwy, Honaker, VA 24260). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 at 7:00 PM and on Friday, November 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
