James Windel Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Windel of Bent Mountain, Virginia, who passed away on May 8, 2026 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Lois Carter Windel; and his brother David Lee Windel. He is survived by: his wife Cindy T. Windel; his children, James "Jamie" Windel and Kristie; his daughter-in-law Kris Windel; his grandchildren, William, Luke, Colin, Peyton, Evan and Claire; his brother Rick Hall (Linda); and his siblings-in-law, Doug Thompson (Susan) and Robin Walters (William). He is also survived by numerous extended family and countless friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Oakey's South Chapel (4257 Brambleton Ave, Cave Spring, VA 24018). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 13th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Mount Union Church of the Brethren (9420 Bent Mountain Rd, Bent Mountain, VA 24059).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mount Union Church of the Brethren in Jay's honor.
