He was predeceased by: his parents, William Davis Tharp and Mary Cole Tharp; and his siblings, William Thomas Tharp and Bunnie Tharp Diehr. He is survived by: his wife Karen C. Sgarrella-Tharp; his son Paul Joseph Tharp (Kim) of Pensacola, FL; his stepsons, William Gary Sgarrella, Jr. (Crystal) and Joseph Edward Sgarrella (Kate); his grandchildren, Joseph Edward Sgarrella, Jr. (Erika), Sophia Marie Sgarrella (Eli Zielke), Mara Elizabeth Gaugler and Stephanie Bennett; and his siblings, Carlyn Sue Grey, James Davis Tharp of Charles Town, WV and Harvey Lynn Tharp (Joann) of Leesburg, VA. He is also survived by two great grandchildren.
