He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Dotson and Dorothy Dotson (Justus); his son Christopher Dotson; his great grandchildren, Tristan Atwell and Elana Atwell; his siblings, Rita Reynolds, Yvonne Rife and Marvin Dotson; and his brothers-in-law, Eli Blankenship, Steve Rife and Jesse Clay Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Linda Fay Dotson (Clay) of Guesses Fork; his children, Larry David Dotson (Jeanene) of Princeton, WV and Wanda Lynn Dotson Godwin (Brad) of Alabama; his siblings, Anita Blankenship of Land, Michael Dotson (Eve) of Cedar Bluff, VA and Dusty Dotson of Abingdon, VA; his brother-in-law Jasper Reynolds of Abingdon, VA; his grandchildren, Andrew Mullins (Ashley), Sasha Dotson Atwell (Jacob), Zakary Dotson (Katie) and Cheyene Coleman; and his great grandchildren, Amelia Mullins, Jensen Mullins, Cain Waylan Dotson and Jaxson Atwell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
