It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verna Ellen Lester Ramey of Big Rock, Virginia, born in Grundy, Virginia, who passed away on April 14, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Elsie Lester and Lonia Church Lester; her son Thomas Eugene Ramey; and her sister Nancy Blankenship. She is survived by : her husband Willard Thomas Ramey of Big Rock, VA; her daughter Candace "Candy" Ramey Coleman of Big Rock, VA; her siblings, Glenis Lester (Randy Stiltner) of Grundy, VA, Lelia Lawson (Richard) and Thurman Lester (Theresa) of Conaway, VA.; her grandsons, Dewayne Eugene Taylor, Todd Eugene Ramey and Brandon Thomas Stiltner; and her great grandchildren, Brooklynn Stiltner, Kyleigh Cook, Zayn Taylor, Wrenley Stiltner and Zaydin Napier. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home (1021 Six And Twenty Mile Br Rd, Grundy, VA 24614). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Grundy, VA.
