He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Whitmore III and Eleanor Sinclair Whitmore; his brother Charles Everett Whitmore; and his daughter Isabelle Claire Whitmore. He is survived by: his wife Vivienne Laurent Whitmore; his children, Alexander Theodore Whitmore (Evelyn Grace) and Caroline Elise Davenport (William Henry Davenport IV); and his grandchildren, Charlotte Vivienne, James Alexander, Theodore Bennett and Emilia Rose.
In accordance with his wishes, contributions in his memory may be made to The Metropolitan Museum of Art or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
