Alva Johnston Lucas Obituary
We are sad to announce that on August 26, 2025, at the age of 100, Alva Johnston Lucas of Blacksburg, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Shuler Johnston and Masel Johnston; and her husband Doak Lucas. She is survived by: her children, Jim (Gail Lucas) of Blacksburg and Martha (Bob Neil) of Roanoke; and her grandchildren, Jason (Cherron Lucas) of Newport, Wes Lucas (Cathy Griffin) of Ocean Springs, MS, Amber (Shawn Misenheimer) of Boulder, CO, Sarah (David Buyck) of Roanoke and Rob (Alison Neil). She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 31st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Kendall Funeral Home (605 Snidow St, Pembroke, VA 24136). A funeral service was held on Sunday, August 31st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, Alva requested donations to the First Christian Church of Newport or to St. Jude Foundation.
