He was predeceased by: his wife Frances Jones Sheppard; his parents, Jesse Sheppard and Dorothy Sheppard; his sister Linda Parmelee; his nephew Larry Akers; and his niece Lynn Akers.
He is survived by: his son William "Link" Sheppard (Amy); his granddaughter Chelsea Sheppard; his sister Eunice Jones; his nephew Gary Akers (Shirley); his niece Ruth Ann Akers; his great-nephews, Sheldon Akers, Justin Akers (Whitney) and Nicholas Akers (Makayla); his brothers-in-law, Richard "Bubby" Jones (Jo) and Kawood Graham; his cousins, Ronnie Sheppard and Kay Dunford; and his close friends, Frances Wright, Chuck Shorter, Steve Graham and Mary Lee Linkous.
Visitation was held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McCoy Funeral Home (150 Country Club Dr SW, Blacksburg, VA 24060). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Sheppard Family Cemetery (4380 Long Shop Rd, Blacksburg, VA 24060).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Longshop McCoy Fire and Rescue Department.
