We announce the death of Emily Warner Bender of Blacksburg, Virginia, who passed away on August 25, 2026. Emily will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Laurean Warner and Margaret Hays Warner; her husband Ed Bender; her son Dan Bender; her brother Larry; and her sisters-in-law, Connie Warner and Betty Fuqua (Isaac).
She is survived by: her children, Sam Bender, Margaret Bender and Ellen Plaza (Alex); her granddaughter Emmy Bender (Katie); her brother Joe; and her sister-in-law Joan Warner. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Northside Presbyterian Church (1017 Progress St NW, Blacksburg, VA 24060). She also volunteered with RSVP in the clothing bank and enjoyed making new friendships with her fellow volunteers.
