We bid farewell to Mark Sanders (Blacksburg, Virginia), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on December 26, 2025 at the age of 72. Mark touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. In the vast expanse of eternity, Mark shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Mark farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Gail McMillan; his daughters, Nicole Sanders Tarr and Rachel Sanders; his children-in-law, Josh Tarr and Ryan Baker; his sister Alison Sanders Limoges; his sister-in-law Kathy McMillan; his parents, Evelyn Sanders and Joseph Sanders; and his brother Paul. He was also cherished by four grandchildren.
In keeping with his lifelong commitment to education and service, Mark's family has donated his brain to research led by the Virginia Alzheimer's Disease Center. In the same spirit, in lieu of gifts or flowers, they invite others to honor Mark with donations to the VADC or Remote Area Medical (Virginia).
