We announce the death of Van Edwin Turner of Blacksburg, Virginia, who passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 82. Van will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, David Anderson Turner and Lola Estelle Abbot Turner; his siblings, Joyce Turner, Roger and Kevin Turner; and his brother-in-law Phillip Cook.
He is survived by: his wife Hattie Sansom Turner; his daughters, Amanda Covey (Lucas) and Christina Kurtz (Joel); his granddaughters, Amelia, Evelyn and Mazie Covey; and his siblings, Ron Turner (Marilyn) and Bonnie Cook. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery (5550 Bagging Plant Rd, Dublin, VA 24084-3490).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Van's name.
