He was predeceased by: his father Frank E. Matyiko; his brother Frank G. Matyiko; and his grandfather Chief O. T. Custalow. He is survived by: his significant other Karen "DeeDee" Small; his children, John Matyiko Jr. and Jessica Matyiko; his grandchildren, Everly Tate and James Matyiko; his mother Matoaka Matyiko; his siblings, Patsy Snow (Ronnie), Sheila Brooks (Jimmy), Patricia Brindle (Barry) and Francis Easter (Karmel); and his friends, Mark Lattis and Harvey Hancock. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
