He was predeceased by: his parents, Orice Carpenter and Mozelle Carpenter; his sons, James and Larry; and his son-in-law Randolph.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Carpenter; his children, Christopher Carpenter (Sharron DeLily Carpenter) and Lenora Frierson (late Randolph Frierson); and his sisters, Genevieve Watson (Oberly Watson) and Yvonne Joyner. He is also survived by six sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of relatives, friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the W. E. Hawkes and Son Funeral Home (504 East St, Blackstone, VA 23824). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the New Prospect Baptist Church (3316 Flat Rock Rd, Blackstone, VA 23824).
