He was predeceased by: his parents, Harmon Lawson and Bessie Lawson; his wife Zelma "Zel" Arrington Lawson; and his siblings, Harmon James Lawson, Guy Scalf, Venus Scalf Osborne, Doyln Scalf Mullinax and Zelda Lawson Wilkerson.
He is survived by: his nephews, Brett and Bobby Lawson; his stepson Michael Olinger of Duffield, VA; his siblings, Leroy Lawson of Indiana, Ralph Lawson (Anna) of Blackwater, Madge Lawson of Jonesville, VA and Dorothy Monroe (Dick) of Indiana; and his siblings-in-law, Harold Lawson (Judy) of Hiltons, VA, Lil Pendleton of Kingsport, TN and Irene Lampkins of Kingsport, TN. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews as well as other extended family.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Robinette Funeral Home (696 Dr Andrew Jackson Osborne Hwy, Blackwater, VA 24221). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
