He was predeceased by: his wife Vickie Lynn Smith; and his parents, James "Smitty" Smith and Virginia "Kay" Smith. He is survived by: his siblings, Cindy Smith of Denver and Jeff Smith of Cathedral City, California.; his children, Janel Nichole (John) of Providence and Samuel Jordan of Callands; and his grandson Christopher Jordan.

As a long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church, the family suggests a donation to the church in lieu of flowers.
