He is survived by: his wife Joan Pittmon Motley; his children, Tonja Motley Locklear (Eric), Nicole Motley van Esselstyn (Drew) and David Leon Motley, Jr.; his grandchildren, Hannah Greco (Frank), Peyton Hudson (Cami), Abigail van Esselstyn and Dalton van Esselstyn; his great grandchild Grayson Greco; his siblings, Kathy Nester, Lisa Motley, Ronald Motley and Johnny Motley (Betty); and his siblings-in-law, Myrtie P. Giles, Betty P. Davis, Joan Pittmon, Vickye Pittmon, Vernon Pittmon, John Pittmon and Mack "Pete" Eanes.
