She was predeceased by: her spouse Gene A. Mears; her parents, Hampton Wade Cullen and Edna Nelson Cullen; and her siblings, Peggy Frock, Shirley Sterling, Ada Killmon, Jessie Swift, Elmer "Tug" Cullen, Paul Cullen, Baby Ola Cullen, Hampton Wade "Junie" Cullen, Jr., Bobby Cullen and Mary Lou Hill.
She is survived by: her children, Harvey Lee Mears of Bloxom, George Wayne Mears of Onancock, VA, Donna Edwards (Donnie) of Bloxom and Sandi Mears (Larry) of Parksley, VA; her sisters, Ola Lilliston and Edna Lawson; her grandchildren, Jessica Mears, Sarah Danielle Mears (Tremaine), Jonathan Mears, Brandon Edwards (Bonnie) and Brooke Mears; and her great grandchildren, Camryn Lewis, Nick Lewis, Arden Mears, Brody Edwards and Braelyn Edwards. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Thornton Funeral Home (24183 Chadbourne St, Parksley, VA 23421). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at the Guilford Cemetery.
