He was predeceased by : his parents, Oliver Benjamin and Dora Todd Koen; his wife Shirley Evelyn Koen; his children, Patricia Diane Koen and Carl Edward Koen; his brother Robert Lee Koen; and his grandson Benjamin Koen.

He is survived by : his children, Jimmy Dean Koen (Connie) of Bluefield, VA, Bobby Gene Koen (Rhonda) of Bluefield, WV, Tommy Eugene Koen (Dreama) of Stoneville, NC, Ronney Dale Koen (Doreen) of Princeton, WV and Judy Ann Koen; and his brother Oliver Koen, Jr. (Joyce) of Millry, AL. He is also survived by 16 Grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren.
