Shirley Smart Crabtree Obituary

We announce the death of Shirley Smart Crabtree of Bluefield, Virginia, who passed away on August 20, 2026, at the age of 90. Shirley will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Henry and Ethel Gilmore Smart, Sr.; her husband Pierce Crabtree; and her siblings, Robert Smart, Elwood Smart, Joe Smart Jr., Lucille Wilson, Frances Slater, Dorothy McCoy, Dorleen Roop, Maleita Boyd, June Dobbins and Dolly Hedge.

She is survived by: her daughter Cynthia Crabtree (Cindy); and her siblings-in-law, Sue Hollyfield of Bluefield, VA, Curtis Vest of Bluefield, VA and Charles Crabtree (Teresa) of Laurens, SC. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, August 24th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Memorial Baptist Church (401 Virginia Ave, Bluefield, VA 24605). A funeral service was held on Monday, August 24th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
