He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Turnbell (Theissen) and Arthur Turnbell; and his daughter Janice DeVries (Turnbell). He is survived by: his wife Nita Turnbell (Peixoto); his sister Lorainne Olson; and his children, Guy Turnbell (Karen), Wendy Everett (Bob), Tony Turnbell and Clara Dianne Turnbell. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, along with a huge extended family including many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in his honor.
