We announce the death of Ruby Switzer of Bridgewater, Virginia, who passed away on October 17, 2026, at the age of 103. Ruby will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Otis McCutchan Hemp and Arbra Pauline Hemp (Berry); her husband Marvin Cecil Switzer; and her siblings, Mary Catherine Hutchens, Evalyn Lavenia Switzer, Iva Viola English, Berry McCutchan Hemp and Dallas Monroe Hemp.
She is survived by: her son Dr. Boyd Switzer (Janie Switzer); her grandchildren, Katherine Walker (Talmadge Walker), Susan Scanga (Daniel Scanga), Timothy Walker, Sarah Walker, Joseph Walker, Vin Scanga and Jaden Scanga; her brother Joe Hemp (Faye Hemp); and her brother-in-law Millard English.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service (208 S Main St, Bridgewater, VA 22812). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church (372 Kyles Mill Rd, Bridgewater, VA 22843).
