Samuel Walter Lam Obituary
We are sad to announce that on May 20, 2026, at the age of 84, Samuel Walter Lam in Bridgewater, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Roger Lam and Myrtle Sandy Lam; his wife Betty Jean Rawley Lam; and his siblings, Lynwood Lam (Betty), Hazel Altizer (George), Ralph Lam, Glen Roger Lam, Marietta Helphrey (Hal) and Frances Shenk.
He is survived by: his sons, Gregory Alan Lam (Mary) of Mt. Crawford and Steven Walter Lam (Sarah) of Weyers Cave; his grandchildren, Garrett Monroe Lam (Lynette Layman) of McGaheysville, Elliott Samuel Lam (Charis) of Harrisonburg, Grace Elizabeth Lam of Weyers Cave and Joel Steven Lam of Weyers Cave; his great grandchild Ashlynn Mae Lam; his siblings, Marvin Lam (Mary), Herbert Lam (Lois), Daniel Lam (Linda) and Dallas Lam (Leanna); and his siblings-in-law, Edith Depoy Lam and Nelson Shenk. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service (201 Dogwood Ave, Grottoes, VA 24441). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mount Olivet United Brethren Church (862 Free Mason Run Rd, Mt Solon, VA 22843).
In lieu of flowers, Sam requested memorial gifts be sent to either the Building or Cemetery Fund of Mt. Olivet UB Church at 862 Freeman Run Road, Mt. Solon, VA 22843 or Big Laurel Mission in care of Nathan Boggs at HC82, Box 338, Big Laurel, KY 40808-9601.
