He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodard Sorrell and Frances Spurlock Sorrell; his son Daniel Joe Sorrell, Jr.; and his sister Debbie Sorrell. He is survived by: his son Stephen Sorrell (Jill); his daughter-in-law Penny Sorrell; his brother Jerry Sorrell (Rose); his grandchildren, Nick Sorrell (Sarah), Elliot Sorrell (Cicilia), Dustin Sorrell, Ryan Creson, Allix Williams (Dustin), Elisabeth Shakespeare, Abigail Jackson (Nolan) and Kaitylin Sorrell; and his nieces, Dawn Dickenson (Carl), Lori Henard and Hannah Davidson. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 25th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the Emmanuel Baptist Church (19383 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, VA 24210). A memorial service was held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
