He is survived by: his wife Hazel Rambo Thomas; his children, James A Thomas (Tammy) of Stuarts Draft, VA, Tami Acosta (Jesse) of Greeneville, SC and David E. Thomas of Richmond, VA; his stepdaughter Robin Yontz (Dale) of Rural Retreat, VA.; his grandchildren, Ryan McKay, Kevin Acosta, Amanda Acosta, David Acosta, Amelia Thomas, David Thomas Jr., Jarrod Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, Madison Yontz and Dayton Yontz; and his great grandchildren, Dulcinea Acosta, Elijah Acosta, Logan McKay and Everett Thomas.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:00 PM at the Fellowship Chapel (201 Crockett St, Bristol, VA 24201). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Mountain Home National Cemetery (53 Memorial Ave, Mountain Home, TN 37604).
