He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorenzo Mendez and Gertrude Mendez; and his father-in-law Charles (Brenda Baisden). He is survived by: his grandson Kenny Plumley; his friend David Spradling; his pets, Chico and Sammy; his wife Kimberly Mendez; his children, Richard Lee Mendez (Alicia Ashby), Ricci Rashael Mendez (Chuck Vickers) and Catherine Jenna' Ellis (Bryson); his stepdaughter Keely Gibson-Marcum (Joey); his siblings, Johnny Mendez (Debbie), Lawrence Mendez (Mary), David Lee Mendez, Mary Rose Watson (Gary), Patty Adkins (Allen) and Carol McGinnis (Jeff); his sister-in-law Stephanie Bevins (Gene); his grandchildren, Jacob Wiley, Reed Dingess, Claire Dingess, Cathryn Vickers, Bryson Ellis II and Zachary Ellis; and his great grandchildren, Kacen Dingess and Baron Teo Vandamia-Dingess. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Sunday, July 13th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Collins Funeral Home (5452 Jerry W Hwy, Switzer, WV 25647). A funeral service was held on Sunday, July 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
