He was predeceased by: his parents, Tommy Legg Ward, Sr. and Louise Orick Ward; his wife Iris Gay Ward; his siblings, Frances Million, Evagene Beverly, Geraldine Mullins, Betty Million, Billy Ward, Peggy Cridlin, Erma Lou Laster, Bobby Ward, Donald Ward and Shirley Rutherford; and his granddaughter April Nicole Phelan.
He is survived by: his children, Martin "Marty" Ward (DeAnna) and Myra Ward Phelan (Robin T.); his grandchildren, Derek Ward (Jordan), Adrianna Childress (Aaron) and Darian Collier (Hunter); and his great grandchildren, Eden Ward, Kraigan Ward and Sage Collier. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
