It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joseph Bernthal of Broadway, Virginia, born in New York, New York, who passed away on June 16, 2022, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Nathan Bernthal and Amelia Bernthal; and his son Michael Bernthal. He is survived by : his wife Dorothy of Broadway; his stepchildren, Kathy Halterman (Harold) of Rockingham, Keith Elliott of Harrisonburg, Arnold Farbstein of Houston, TX and Sam Berne of Santa Fe, NM; and his stepgrandchildren, Sam Halterman and Kristy Halterman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonburg/Rockingham SPCA, 2170 Old Furnace Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22802.
