He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry A. Smith and Mamie Marie Fink Smith; and his siblings, Wanda Sherman, Gloria Smith, Henry Smith, Larry Smith, Brenda Morris and Robert Smith.

He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Runion of Broadway, Joyce Mongold of Fulks Run, JoAnn Roadcap of Harrisonburg, Norma Oats of Mathias, WV and Thomas Smith of Broadway. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
