It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Lewis Spitzer of Broadway, Virginia, who passed away on October 29, 2025, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Casper and Mary Driver Spitzer; his wife Mary Rebecca Mason; and his children-in-law, Bonnie Spitzer and Allen Miller.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Zirkle (Maynard) of Saco, MT, Susan Miller of Fulks Run and Dale "Shaggy" Spitzer of Broadway; his grandchildren, Edgar Harper, Jr. (Audrey) of Rockingham, Jeanette Spitzer of Ohio, R. L, Jeff Miller (Shannon Roher) of Weyers Cave, Tracey Miller (Richard Turner) of Fulks Run, Heather Spitzer of Augusta, WV and Daniel Spitzer (Brooke) of Fulks Run; his great grandchildren, Dallas, Jared, Nevaeh, Jase and Jason; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Belle, Landon, Amanda, Bryce and Kara; his great grandchildren, Brent and Casey; his brothers, Ira Clay Spitzer (Janice) of Timberville and George Nelson Spitzer (Hilda) of Broadway; and his nephews, Kent Spitzer, Greg Spitzer and Melvin Cook.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Grandle Funeral Home (148 E Lee St, Broadway, VA 22815). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Linville Creek Church of the Brethren (409 Brethren Rd, Broadway, VA 22815).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's own choice.
