It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Delbert Benjamin Burgess of Buchanan, Virginia, who passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harman Burgess and Hester Ann Burgess (Perdue); his former wife Helen Marie Burgess (Fuller); his daughter Angela Leann Burgess; his great grandchild Jamie Delilah Stanley; his fathers-in-law, Henry Lee and Jonas Ann "Jan" Heath (Jackson); his siblings, Letha Marie Burgess Bevins (Woodrow Wilson) and Franklin D. "Toe Head" Burgess (Ella Innis); and his close friends, Rex Spencer, Dave Shortt, John Shortt Hoss Deel, Kylie Ward and Sonny Vandyke.
He is survived by: his daughters, Mary Magdalene Burgess Grizzle (Roger) of Grundy, VA, Betty Sue Burgess Ramey (John) of Oakwood, VA, Ashley Paige Burgess Harris (Jermey) of Mouthcard, KY and Alyson Paula Brooke Burgess (Blane Wilson) of Springfield, MN; his grandchildren, Lisa Grizzle (Sarah Rogers), Jessica Grizzle, Bradley Stanley, Victoria "Shell" Stanley (Jessee Counts), Zoey Harris, Kameron Harris "Papaw' of Papaw's Buddy, Wyatt Wilson and Natalee Varney; his great grandchildren, Joshua, Jodie, Julia, Reid, Elijah and Victor; his sister-in-law Honey Heath Wolford (Charlie); and his close friends, Pollard Shortt, Susie Ramey, Steve Vandyke, Josh Snead, Chris Shortt, David Ratliff and Mary Ruth Spencer. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews great nieces and great nephews.
