He is survived by: his mother Phyllis Ann Smith (Cline) of Grundy, VA; his daughter Crystal Hicks (David) of Grundy, VA; his grandchildren, Aaron, Savannah and Jacob Sutherland; his great grandchildren, Bryson, Brynlee Sutherland and Harper; his stepgrandchildren, Lauren and Parker Hicks; his siblings, Harold Smith of Big Rock, VA, Vickie Ratliff (Barry) of Richlands, VA, Vanessa Pennington (Dennis Kelly) of Slate Creek, VA, Greg Smith (Cheryl) of Roseann, VA and Donna Lynch (Robbie) of Scranton, SC; his uncle Bill Smith; and his close friends, Chris Pack, Pete Wallace, Billy and Trish Duty. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Roseann Evangelical Presbyterian Church (1936 Lesters Fork Rd, Grundy, VA 24614). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
