He was predeceased by : his parents, Willie L. Branch and Annie Taylor Branch; and his siblings, Stella Christine Branch, Leslie Branch Ragland, Lucille Branch Wiseman, Brenda Branch Ragland, George Roosevelt Branch and Willie L Branch, Jr..

He is survived by : his wife Jean Elizabeth Bryant Branch; his children, James L Branch, Jr. (Debra), Tammy B. Huddleston (Tony), Deborah B. Herndon (David) and Janet M. Rose (Pete); his grandchildren, Christopher Hucks, Anthony Hucks, Kalya Jamerson, Landon Branch, Toni Mitchell, Meghan Allen, Melissa Herndon, Cody Herndon, Brandon Ragland and Brian Ragland; his siblings, John R Branch (Gail), Nannie Mae Moyer, Georgie Cash (Cat), Rebecca (Becky) and Gibson (Phil); his sister-in-law Joyce B. Branch; and his niece Randi Branch. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.
