It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Leighton O'Connell of Bumpass, Virginia, who passed away on March 28, 2026, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Plunkett Myers III and Elizabeth Leighton Shackleford; and her brothers, Robert Walter Myers, Daniel Rembert Myers and Kevin John Myers.
She is survived by: her husband Joseph Gerard O'Connell; her children, Shawn Patrick O'Connell and Megan Daly O'Connell (Ben Wroblewski); her siblings, Joseph Plunkett Myers IV (Laurie), Jayne Marie Myers Smith, Helen Overmann Myers Lambert and Patricia Elaine Myers Jeter (Earl (Rusty)); her sisters-in-law, Lisa Myers and Anne Gray; and her granddaughter Maya Lyra Angelina Worden.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Immaculate Conception Church Backpack Program Fund, 1937 Davis Highway, Mineral, VA.
