He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Verling and Alice Verling (Butler); and his wife Patricia "Patsy" Verling (Wharton). He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Lamb (Kevin) and Stephen Verling (Susan); his grandchildren, Hunter, Will, Rob and Chrissy; his great grandchildren, Robert, Riley, Rhys and Everett; his sister Bonnie Oakes (Verling); and his brothers-in-law, James Wharton and Jerry Wolfrey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A reception will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory (31440 Constitution Hwy, Locust Grove, VA 22508).
