With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melvin Samuel Ayers of Cana, Virginia, who passed away on October 23, 2025 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Harless Beamer Ayers and Lucy Mae Ayers; his wife Zelphia Pauline Gunnell Ayers; and his siblings, Leah Naomi Ayers Metz, Ruth Emaline Ayers Guynn, Buford Micah Ayers and Kenneth Joel Ayers.
He is survived by: his son Arvin; his daughter-in-law Robin Ayers; his grandson Alexander Ayers; his great grandchildren, Lilian Carpenter and Christopher Carpenter; his great great grandchild Eleanor Carpenter; and his siblings, Esther Jane Ayers, Juanita (David McMillian), Howard (Shirley Ayers), Ralph (Conelia Ayers), Tommy (Susan Ayers), David Ayers and Charles Ayers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and several other family and friends.
