He was predeceased by: his father Alvin Mayes. He is survived by: his mother Lois Mayes; his children, Kara Mayes and Travis Mayes; his grandchildren, Aubrey Mayes, Kinsley Mayes and Kyler Mayes; his siblings, Danny Mayes (Tina) and Deena Bryant (Brandon); his former wife April Puckett Mayes; and his pets, Oreo and Princess.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (206 W Pine St, Mt Airy, NC 27030).
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made to a charity of the donor's choice in Scottie's honor.
