We are sad to announce that on April 28, 2024, at the age of 91, Doris Virginia Merritt of Cape Charles, Virginia, born in Eden, Maryland passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her husband Elton L. Merritt Sr.; her parents, Homer Sidney Carmean and Betty Virginia Carmean (Townsend); her daughter Lillie Merritt Parker; her grandchildren, Geoff Abraham and Meranda Merritt; her great grandchild Wyatt Merritt; and her siblings, Albert Carmean, Thelma Breyer and Susie Taylor.

She is survived by : her children, Mary Phipps (David), Elton L. Merritt Jr., Timothy Merritt (Karen), Teresa Wayman (Bart), Christopher Merritt (Lisa) and Angela Merritt Rosa (Niva); her siblings, Riley, Jimmy Lee Carmean and Vera Mae Diaz; her grandchildren, Derek Abraham, Kris Abraham, Renee Landon, Christina Bonniwell, Elton Merritt Jr., Logan Merritt, Timmy Merritt, Lindsay Merritt, Jeff Wayman, Matt Wayman, Shannon Merritt Castaneda, Laura Merritt, Hunter Elliott, Heather Elliott and Chris Elliott; her great grandchildren, Alyssia, Taylor, Marrissa, Tyler, Natalya, Natalie, Aiden, Evelyn, Olivia, Isaac, Haven, Chance, Malachi, Chayce, Ethan, Keely, Elijah, Carmelo and Lia; and her great great grandchildren, Kairo and Avalei.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 11th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Gospel Church (22340 Bayview Cir, Cape Charles, VA 23310). A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 11th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
