She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert A. Hairston and Estelle Flippen Hairston; her husbands, Waddell Smith and Ralph Phillips; her daughter Sheila Smith; and her siblings, Mary Ruth Samuel, Hattie Catherine Adams, Mildred Jamison, Clara McKenzie, Robert and Tommy Hairston.
She is survived by: her son Victor Smith of New York; her siblings, Ann France (George) of Columbia, Doreatha Hall of Cascade, Thelma Pearson of Lanham, Maryland, George Hairston (Indira) of Atlanta Georgia and Joseph Hairston (Monia) of Cascade, Virginia; and her grandchildren, Sarah Smith, Robert and Summer Green. She is also survived by her nine great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many cherished friends.
