He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Steele Chafin Sr. and Florine Huffman Chafin; his grandparents, William, Maggie Huffman, James and Nancy Johnson Chafin; his siblings, Charlie Steele Chafin, Jr. and Gloria Jean Wyatt; his nephew Tommy Derek Mayhew; and his mother-in-law Violet Jenkins.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Belle Chafin; his children, Bridgett Rena Chafin (Tony Dotson) of Lebanon, Virginia and Matthew Derek Chafin (Amanda) of Castlewood, Virginia; his grandson Teagan Derek Chafin; his sisters, Wylodean Willis of Roanoke and Mary Nearhood (Clint) of Lebanon, Virginia; his pet Snowball; and his close friends, Jeff Bush, Craig Mullins, Phil Jacobs, Tony Taylor and Ronald Stevens. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews.
