He was predeceased by: his parents, William Helbert and Rosa Jessee Helbert; his wife Clara Gaynell Phillips Helbert; and his siblings, Garland, Fuller, Cecil, Don, Russell, Clifton, Elbert Glenn, Mattie Helbert, Katherine Jessee, Allene Jones, Mary Steffey, Elizabeth Elam and Margaret Meade.

He is survived by: his children, Darlene Helbert of Tamassee, Freda Holliday of Clarksville, Loretta Helbert of Castlewood, Virginia and Randall Helbert (Debbie) of Abingdon, Virginia; and his granddaughter Randi Honaker. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
