He was predeceased by: his parents, Garnett Smith Cox and Bessie Gay Cox; his wife Ethel Dye Cox; and his siblings, Buford, Marvin, David, Jerry Cox, Bonnie Carpenter, Garland Cox, Perry Dean Cox, Carl Smith Cox and Shelby Keith Cox.
He is survived by: his son Garland Henry Cox; his grandchildren, Cristen Cox, Laura Pannell (Andrew) and Hunter Cox; and his sisters, Joan Dickenson (Mark) and Tena Earls. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
