He was predeceased by : his parents, Fred Barrett, Sr. and Ottie Gay Nelson Barrett; his wife Anna Barrett; his son Leslie Barrett, Sr.; his siblings, Marie Keen, Betty Moran, Dolly Kay Holmes and Fred Barrett, Jr.; his grandson Matthew Lee-Garex Jessee; and his son-in-law Dwight Breeding (Teresa Barrett).

He is survived by : his daughters, Karen Hicks (Lonzo) of Vinton and Diane Breeding of Cedar Bluff, Virginia; his sister Elsie Griffith of Jewell Ridge, Virginia; his grandchildren, David Hicks (Missy), Judith Hicks, Kimberly Beal (Mickey), Misty Breeding (Dustin Gregory) and Leslie Barrett (Jennifer); his great grandchildren, Shannon Hicks, Caitlyn Fish, Sgt. Hunter Hicks (Addison), Andrew Beal (Ameila Malcolm), Jordan Fish, Kendall Barrett and Griffin Gregory; and his great great grandchild Salem Woods.
