She was predeceased by: her parents, William "Red" Gillespie and Mabel Catherine Shamblin Gillespie; her siblings, Mildred Angles, Dora Dent, Ann Griffith, Jim Gillespie, Dan Gillespie and William F. "Dick" Gillespie; her niece Lenora Bellini; and her grandson Ethan Altizer.
She is survived by: her children, Joe Altizer (Sharon) of Abingdon, VA, Catherine Elmore of Newport News, VA, Debbie Brown (Rick) of Swords Creek, VA, Mike Altizer (Karen) of Hardy, VA, Mark Gillespie (Cynthia) of Richlands, VA and Matthew Altizer of Yorktown, VA; her grandchildren, Steven Altizer, Chris Stainback, Cory Brown (Macy), Haley Miller, Paige Altizer, Jacob Gillespie, Gabe Gillespie, Logan Altizer, Madison Altizer and Talan Altizer; her great grandchildren, Tyler Altizer, Olivia Altizer, Ava Altizer, Brady Brown, Emery Brown, Zoey Brown and Lucas Miller; and her sister-in-law Virginia "Sis" Gillespie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Singleton Funeral and Cremation Service (1116 Cedar Valley Dr, Cedar Bluff, VA 24609). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
