With heavy hearts, we announce the death of William H. Ackerman Jr. of Centreville, Virginia, born in Easton, Pennsylvania, who passed away on January 22, 2022 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, William Harvey Ackerman, Sr. and Helen May Ackerman; his wife Doris Ackerman (Sandercock); and his sister Elizabeth "Betty" Diefenderfer. He is survived by : his children, Burneda May Russell (James M. Russell) of Gettysburg and William Harvey Ackerman, III of Bear, Del.; his sister Marie Lehr of Jacksonville, Fla.; and his granddaughters, Jennifer C. Brashears and Laura E. McCarley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in memory of his loving wife, Doris.

“I’m so sorry to find out about Bill’s passing so late. We lived next door to Bill and Doris from the time they moved to Centreville until I retired in 2014. Bill and Doris were wonderful neighbors who were always there for Neill and I and watched/helped our daughters grow up. We send our heartfelt sympathy and know that such wonderful people are together with God. Karen Cheatwood”
