He was predeceased by: his parents, Mattie May Butler Hamner and Charles E. Hamner, Sr.; and his siblings, Joseph E. Brochu and Edna May Simpson. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Kay Boone; and his grandchildren, Anne Marie Hamner (Jack McAndrews) of Pinehurst, NC, Kellie Hamner (Patrick Irving) of Chapel Hill, NC and Reed Inman of San Francisco.
A graveside service was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Monticello Memory Gardens (670 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Charlottesville, VA 22902). A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church (800 Market Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27516).
