He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Anne Pugh and Mahon Smith Jr.; his sister Mary Ellis Ford; his wife Suzanne Hilton Smith; his children, Matthew Hilton Smith of Asheville, N. C. and Emily Smith Des Champs; and his granddaughter Claire Hilton Des Champs of Tucson, Ariz.. He was also cherished by friends and family.
