“I am so sorry to hear of Doc’s passing. He was my Latin teacher at Albemarle High School, 2004. I can still see him teaching us with such infectious passion & enthusiasm. He was so respected by students and staff, a legend at AHS. I remember him telling us that even though he had his PhD he just loved teaching high school Latin. He even introduced his to his own teacher, in his 90s, who he’d translate texts with. He took a photo with every class he ever taught & truly cared about his students.”

“I had the privilege of having Doc as a Latin teacher, a peer and a mentor at AHS. We taught across the hall from each other and coached the Academic Team with Susan Gilkie. He was a walking encyclopedia. He was also a part of my mom’s friend group from AHS that was so funny and tight, playing bridge and going on cruise adventures. I can picture them all together again playing cards and laughing around a table again in my mom’s house. World is better for the impact Doc made on it.”
