It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Virginia Root James (Charlottesville, Virginia), who passed away on May 25, 2025, at the age of 104, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Brennan and Captain John Allen Root; her husband Harry B. James; and her sisters, Jane R. Nichols and Mary Catherine Cox.
She is survived by: her children, Mary J. Wright, John F. and Robert A. James; her grandsons, Christopher, Keith Wright, Russell and Brennan James; her stepgrandchildren, David Gilmore and Heather Gilmore; her great grandchildren, Virginia, Sparrow, Jessalyn Wright, Dylan and Nolan James; and her stepgreat-granddaughter Gracie Parrish.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 7th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Greenbrier Drive (500 Greenbrier Dr, Charlottesville, VA 22901).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont.
